I was referred to Ashley's large family by Chelsea of Love Vienna Photography. Chelsea was going to India on a business trip and wasn't able to photograph this amazing family of fifteen so she referred them to me. Usually I approach most large family portraits with a bit of apprehension. You have to make sure everyone is strategically placed and staggered correctly. Then you have to make sure everyone is looking at your camera. Then you have to make sure everyone is smiling and not blinking. And when you have to do that all at the same time for a bunch of people it can be a little overwhelming. But this family was the dream team.
I barely did any coaching or said much of anything. I remember, we had arrived at the location, and I said "ok I'm going to change my lens and we'll take the first group picture here." Then I turned around changed my lens, turned back around, and everyone, and I mean EVERYONE was perfectly staggered in place and smiling. I struggled to pick my jaw up from the ground.
This, in every sense, was the picture perfect family. They not only were photo ready, they were all photographic, and they were all so kind and caring to each other. It made me miss my family.
But enough about me! This family came all the way from the States to visit the Reccord family living in Vienna and to capture some precious family moments. And that's exactly what I think we did. So without further ado, here is the picture perfect family.
