Carly, the voice and travel fiend behind Austrian Adaptation, contacted me because she wanted updated portraits of her in Vienna for her blog and for some projects she was working on. I practically squealed when I got her email. She was one of a few of blogs that I dutifully read before I myself left Florida to relocate to Vienna. She is an established blogger in Vienna with a knack for writing stories and posts in such a way that you feel like you're right there with her or you feel like she's given you privileged insider's tips on the latest and greatest brunch spots or how to master German. Seriously. This woman is like the guru of surviving as an expat in Vienna. I pretty much equate her to the wise old tree in the Disney movie Pocahontas....only she's not old....and she's not a tree....but she's full of sage advice. You get where I'm going...
JoΕΎica, who goes by Joy, recently started her business at En Joy. She had some professional head shots taken previously, but she was looking for more natural head shots for her website which is about to be launched very soon. So she contacted me during my summer mini sessions and asked if I could fit her in to take some natural, professional, and yet fun head shots. My answer: HECK YEAH!
Coffee and head shots; I couldn't think of a better title for this other than that, because that's exactly what this hangout session was all about. Makes you think the beginning of my coffee date with Aneta of Hey Ho turned deadly, but I assure you it did not. She was looking for someone to take some updated shots of herself on her camera and I heartily offered to take a few of them with her camera (what can I say, I like pressing shutter buttons on cameras; it's so exciting) . The day of her session at Das Mobel I still had some film in my camera that I wanted to use so I used the remaining film on her gorgeous face. I am very pleased with the outcome of them, but I enjoyed even more her company.
To say I was excited when Katharyne of Katharyne Dunn Photography contacted me saying she loved my work and wanted to book me, would be a huge understatement. I'm pretty sure I danced around the room while looking at my tuxedo cat and repeatedly asking him "can you believe another photographer likes my work?!" It's a huge honor when that happens....
